No I don't. This is a one person operation. The office building is a collection of many businesses that share a common reception area that is not staffed. It is a waiting area only. If you arrive without an appointment there will be no one that will be able to assist you as I will most likely be with another client. If you have any questions feel free to contact me and I will be happy to help you.
As I am with clients throughout the day, I often grab a moment in between to respond to anyone who has contacted me via email. It is the easiest ways for me to shoot a quick response. Alternatively, I save phone calls for when I have ample time to have a conversation without interruptions. Because of this, it could take me a day or two to respond by phone.
You can easily book an online appointment by clicking the tab at the top of the website. If you would like assistance with the booking process please contact me. Please NOTE: If you do not receive an immediate confirmation the booking did not go through. Please try again or email me for assistance.
When you arrive for your first appointment please take a seat in the reception/waiting area and I will come get you a few minutes before your session begins and bring you back. After the first session (and you know where my office is in the building) you are welcome to come back when you arrive.
It depends on the type of massage you are receiving. Myoskeletal massages sometimes do best with athletic/flexible and thin clothing if we are doing a lot of stretches and MET's. The first session is always a discussion on the course of action you would like to see take place. We determine your goals and how I may be able to assist you. If a lot of movement is going to be required then we can plan that for future sessions and you can dress accordingly. But the first sessions consider it like any other massage. You undress to your comfort level. You will be draped at all times. Only the area being worked on will be exposed.
Often times people see deep tissue and deep pressure as the same thing. Yes, I do deep tissue work and the amount of pressure required to access those tissues is dependent upon who is on the table. The goal is to assist you in establishing unrestricted and pain free movements. I do use various pressures depending on your preference and the goals established. So in that sense, yes, I will possibly be using deep pressure during the session. With that said, if you are seeking a deep, deep pressure massage only where you are clenching the table the entire time you would be better suited with another massage therapist that specializes in that kind of work.
Yes I do! Please make sure that it is appropriate for you and your babies health by discussing it with your doctor first please.
If you need to cancel your appointment please provide as much notice as possible. At this time I am not requiring a credit card hold for appointments. You may cancel appointments yourself online up to two hours before your scheduled time. If you have to cancel less than two hours before your scheduled time please email me to do so. Please understand though that when you reserve a spot on the calendar no one else can book that time. So if you cancel last minute I generally cannot fill that time slot. So please reserve last minute cancellations for emergencies only and not use it as the norm. I understand that life happens. That you may wake up feeling sick or something hits you out of left field-that is why I want to make it as easy as possible for you to reschedule or cancel. I am focused on being here for you, on time, for your scheduled appointment- please do the same for me.
Yes, absolutely. I welcome any suggestions/concerns/advice/areas of focus that your health care provider and you wish to share. Often times I have clients show up with a note from their provider with general instructions that I am more than happy to respect.
That answer is going to be different for everyone. If you have regular massage sessions usually there is limited soreness that follows the session. The body gets used to the soft tissue work and most people feel fine afterwards. If you are new to bodywork though (or it's been a while) then yes, you could very well feel some soreness the next couple of days. This can happen even if you received a relaxation massage where nothing was being "worked out". Some people have incredibly sensitive systems that can take a while to accept soft tissue work. Myoskeletal work on the other hand is often being done in order to break up scar tissue, remove fascial adhesions, increase range of motion etc. Many different techniques can be used such as deep tissue pin and stretches, trigger point work, cupping and more. This type of work has a greater chance of causing soreness. I generally tell people focus on the third day and I use the example of going to a gym to provide context. If you haven't worked out in a very long time, the first workout usually results in aching and discomfort the next few days. But... as you continue to work out your body builds a tolerance and the soreness that follows lessens. This is what I find happens to people who receive regular body work. So the third day is what I ask people to focus on. That's when you check in with yourself and try to determine if you feel like you have regressed, progressed or stayed the same. That feedback determines the course of action on the subsequent sessions. We may need to do less deep work if you were sore for longer than a couple of days or we may be able to do more if you noticed very little kick back. No two sessions are the same and I am constantly adjusting based on what you tell me. The big thing to realize is that everyone's body is different. I am constantly amazed at how what works on one person brilliantly can be horrible on another person. It can take some time to "learn you". To see what works well with your body and what does not. I cannot promise to get it perfectly right out of the gate- they're just too many factors involved- but I can promise I will do my best. I will learn as best I can and adapt as we work together.
Please give yourself plenty of time to make the appointment. I know the unexpected can happen but I leave very little time between clients, so extending a session to compensate is generally not possible. Therefore, the time is taken from your appointment. If you are 15 or more minutes late for your appointment and I do not hear from you I consider that a no-show and I cancel the session.
That's totally fine. I have two different categories in order to give you an idea of the two very different directions a session can take. It also gives me just a little advance notice of what you may be looking for in the session. But every session we do a check-in and determine what you would like to cover during your time. Often people create a mixed session. For example. They may come in and say my neck and shoulders are really bad this week- I would like you to focus on that for half the session and really try to work things out and then with what ever time we have left do a relaxing back massage. Or you may book a week in advance and by the time your sessions arrives you are feeling completely different and have changed your goals on what you need. No problem- we talk- we get a game plan together and we proceed.
