Myoskeletal Medical Massage is for the client seeking assistance with one or more areas of concern. The first session involves filling out a brief intake form where it is then reviewed and discussed. Following that, an assessment is made and bodywork begins. Please make sure to arrive 10 minutes early to your first session to give you time to fill out this form before your session begins.
The Myoskeletal approach is one of the foundations utilized in these sessions. Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques (MAT) were devised by Erik Dalton, Ph.D. and uses science based evidence about the body and the brain in order to assess muskuloskeletal problems and work on them. Through Erik Dalton’s Freedom From Pain Institute, the program is a unique hands-on bodywork system designed to restore function, relieve pain, rebalance and reeducate the body. It focuses on structural alignment and muscular balance. Therapists are taught to recognize common strain patterns and work to correct them in order to bring balance to the body.
There are no additional pricing add-on's for any of these techniques and no complicated choices in regards to booking. The sessions are each unique to you, your needs, your comfort level and your goals.
Per Erik Dalton's site, erikdalton.com, the Myoskeletal Medical Massage session may help with:
These sessions are generally not what people have in mind when they think of a typical massage. This is a very interactive session and it is a collaborative approach. You may be worked on while you are laying prone, supine, on your side, standing or sitting. You may be asked to move limbs, breath in a particular pattern or resist pressure. Because of this, it can be helpful to bring or wear comfortable athletic clothing (shorts/tights/jogging bra). If undressing for the session the therapist will step out of the room while you do so and will reenter only after you are comfortably on the table and under the covers. You will be draped at all times with the sheeting and only the specific part of the body being worked on at any given time will be exposed.
Available in 60 and 90 minute sessions.
Relaxation Massage is for the client seeking to wind down, breath deep and recharge. This is a whole body massage that offers you space to re-center and settle back into your body. Light, medium and deep pressure strokes utilizing Swedish massage techniques offer assistance in relieving tense muscles and improving circulation.
Sessions involve a brief discussion to see how you are doing and to make sure they're are no contraindications. A short intake form in filled out on the initial visit so please arrive 10 minutes early to fill that out. Massage creams with or without essential oils and hot towels are available for the session upon your request.
The Relaxation Massage session may help with:
The Relaxation Massage is the type of session most people think of when visualizing a massage. Soft music and dim lights help create a calming atmosphere. There is minimal movement and interaction although occasional check-ins are made to ensure the pressure is acceptable and all is OK. You may undress to your comfort level and you will be draped at all times. Only the specific part of the body being worked on will be exposed.
Available in 60 and 90 minute sessions.
